7. Breaking in the corner
Prior to the Monaco Grand Prix in 2006, Michael Schumacher was trailing Fernando Alonso by 15 points on the table. He desperately needed a pole position to increase his chances of reducing Alonso’s lead. Once he got the best time, he decided to prevent Alonso from overtaking him and intentionally stopping his car in La Rascasse corner, thus bogging down all drivers behind him. For this, he was penalized by losing the pole position. Alonso went on to win the race and eventually the championship.
