In one of the stupidest acts of industrial espionage in history, McLaren tried to get an edge over their rivals at Ferrari by illegally obtaining classified documents about their cars, plans and finances from a Ferrari chief mechanic. The whole thing ended up in a failure and McLaren was slapped with a $100 million penalty by FIA.
