2019 Acura RDX – Good News for Acura Fans

The Acura has been in the design slump for a while, but they managed to overcome that phase. They have started to combine luxury traits with performance and the new RDX is the perfect example of this practice. The Acura’s revamped vehicle has taken some cues from the 2017 Acura Precision Concept as well as the Acura NSX. With the new vehicle, this carmaker is challenging the BMW X3 and Audi Q5.

2019 Acura RDX  Exterior

Acura really invested a lot of time and effort to make a good 2019 RDX. At the front end, the diamond pentagon grille dominates in combination with the Jewel-Eye headlights that arrive with two additional LED elements. What you can also see at the front is a pair of corner air intakes which are clearly inspired by the NSX, but this time they do have a clear function and they are not just the stylish element.

On the sides, it shows the Acura RDX as the combination of a concept and reality. The lines and cues are beautiful and there is one line in the center that is done in minimalistic design. However, to contradict that, there is a well-accented lower body line, which fits perfectly.

At the rear end of the car, the black insert placed on the lower fascia adds contrast to the design. Meanwhile, the taillights are two-piece units with a 3D effect. The LED pattern is quite attractive, but the entire exterior design is something worthy of the Acura nameplate.

Interior of Acura RDX

The interior of the new car put the focus on the passengers and not on cargo. For instance, the passenger volume is 104 cubic-feet whereas the cargo volume almost reaches 30 cubic-feet. However, there has been an increase in both, all of that thanks to the longer wheelbase. Both legroom and headroom will grow as well, which means more comfort for the passengers at the front and at the back.

There are some new features inside the 2019 Acura RDX and they will help Acura in the competition against the BMW and Audi. The dashboard looks handsome especially in the middle, where you can find the center stack and the head-on display. The interior seems aggressive and luxurious at the same time, plus they replaced the boxy infotainment display with the one that pops up from the top of the dash, which is a major improvement.

The steering wheel has a premium appearance and a feel to it. There are several buttons on it, all easily accessible by the driver. The A-Spec models will arrive with steel pedals and bi-colored seats which will please the part of the buyers looking for a more race-oriented design. As for the technology, there is the 10.2-inch infotainment display that can be controlled by a touchpad. Moreover, you will find the new ELS 3D audio system and an already-mentioned heads-up display.

Engine

The performance has never been an issue for the Acura. The new 2019 Acura RDX comes with a new turbocharged 2.0-liter VTEC that replaced the 3.5-liter V6. The new engine will deliver 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.

The unit is connected to the 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Even though horsepower output is down by seven ponies compared to the previous model, the engine is much better as well as the transmission, that substituted the six-speed auto. Acura’s third-generation SH-AWD system is used and it affects performance significantly.
