The Ford Mondeo was first seen in Sweden, performing the tests on a snowy surface, but it traveled to Southern Europe, doing some test runs this time round. What makes this Mondeo specific is that it is a wagon! This vehicle has been lightly camouflaged, and the photos reveal enough for us to make a picture of what to expect of this model.
Exterior
We should not expect much from the 2019 Ford Mondeo, and the only things that are covered in camo are the front and the rear end. This means that the rest of the vehicle is going to remain the same as its predecessor and there will be some smaller changes only up front and out the back.
There is a possibility that Ford wants to install a new front bumper for the wagon and this is likely to happen. The edges of the front grille are wearing the covers as well, and from what we can conclude at the moment, the grille will be entirely new, but the design will not be that much different from the one we know on the ongoing Mondeo.
Meanwhile, the rear lights are going to be more stylish, but we cannot tell the exact design of the lamps due to the camouflage. Anyway, we believe that they will grow in size and be more rounded than before. Although the test car looks to bring a bunch of novelties, the new Mondeo will not be vastly different from the previous one. On the contrary, the two models will be similar.
2019 Ford Mondeo Interior
The same rule applies to the interior of the new car. There will not be too many changes. The Ford Mondeo has never been the most stylish or the most luxurious vehicle, and it will not win any awards for the interior. This means that the cabin of the new model will be conservative, but a high amount of good-quality matte plastics will be spread throughout. Conservative doesn’t necessarily mean bad.
The buyers will get the similar cabin, with Ford’s SYNC touchscreen as one of the most important features of the wagon. This new Mondeo will not impress you when you open the door, but at least Ford moved from installing cheap plastic inside the model, and you will get something decent.
Engine
There will be several powertrain options, and nothing is supposed to change in this segment as well. For starters, there is a 1.5-liter TDCI engine that delivers 150 horsepower, whereas the larger 2.0-liter TDCI will also be offered. The bi-turbo engine in the ongoing version of the car produces 190 hp and 238 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough. However, there is a possibility that Ford is going to boost the power slightly.
Not everything is going to be unchanged or slightly modified. The 2019 Ford Mondeo brings something entirely new to the table. Instead of the six-speed automatic transmission, Blue Oval will use an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Finally, Ford will give up on the old transmission that has remarkably survived thus far. Note that this has yet to be confirmed by the company, so take this information with a pinch of salt. Some of the features that will be used the driver assist system Ford Co-Pilot360, which is one of the most advanced systems in the market that adds automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot information system, lane keeping system and so much more.
Ford Mondeo 2019 Price
The 2019 Ford Mondeo is going to range from $27,000 to just over $40,000, depending on the trip you select. The prices are not official yet, but there shouldn’t be any surprises with the new car.
