One of the most interesting cars that have ever rolled out of the Lamborghini plant is the Aventador SVJ. It has an authentic design and under its hood is a powerful V12 engine that is responsible for the incredible performance.
Just when we thought that things could not become crazier one lucky owner wants to switch it up a bit, as if the SVJ wasn’t crazy enough. This is the part where we ought to introduce the Lamborghini SC18 Alston which will take your breath with the way it looks, the way it drives and the fact that it is street-legal. With the combination of track and “standard” features, the SC18 brings the best of both worlds.
Superb Exterior
When it comes to the exterior, there isn’t any doubt that everyone will like this car. A new fascia beset has been integrated into the front end whereas the intakes are taken from the Huracan GT3 EVO. The Aventador shape is still recognizable mostly thanks to the headlight housings and an aggressive nose. In the meantime, the ride height is one of the characteristics from track-oriented vehicles and it isn’t friendly for public roads. There’s only 4.3 inches of ground clearance.
When looked at from the sides, the 2019 Lamborghini Alston looks like the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO. 20-inch wheels are placed in the front and 21-inch wheels in the back but despite a size difference, they both have a single-nut locking mechanism.
A total of 12 vents can be seen on the rear engine cover, one for each cylinder. Air intake needs to be on top level to keep the engine running at optimal temperatures. Also in the rear, there is a massive carbon fiber wing, which might be the biggest adjustment compared to the Aventador SVJ. The sounds coming from the exhaust are frightening.
What can be found inside?
Lamborghini used Nero Ade Alcantara upholstery to cover the cockpit. In combination with Rosso Alala cross-stitching, it is an understatement to say it looks beautiful. Buckets seats are used and they are constructed from carbon fiber to reduce weight as much as possible. Also the seats are designed for those who will race with this car to set best lap times.
Considering that the SC18 Alston is inspired by the Aventador SVJ, it is only natural that these two models are similar. The SC18 sits on a lightweight carbon fiber chassis and the Italian brand confirmed that the curb weight of the new model is lower than the weight of the SVJ. However, they didn’t want to provide the specifics. Let’s not forget to mention that Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires are wrapped around the wheels.
Under the Hood
A massive naturally aspirated 6.5 liter V12 is located under the hood of the new model. It delivers 770 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque and the transmission used is an independent Shifting Rod seven-speed automatic. The Alston is an AWD vehicle whereas the figures are extraordinary – it can reach 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds while it can develop the top speed of 210 mph.
