9. Four- and Six-Cylinder Engines
Expect lots of trims over time, but in the beginning, Mercedes offers the GLE 350, the GLE 450 and GLE 450 4Matic. All of these versions will use the latest 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. Even the GLE 350 will be quite fast, reaching 60 mph in seven seconds. The power comes from a 2.0-liter I4 turbocharged unit that generates 255 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque.
The GLE 450 will be a true beast as it packs a 3.0-liter I6 engine good for 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. And with a more powerful unit, the GLE 450 will speed up to 60 mph from a standstill in just 5.5 seconds. Diesel, a V8 sourced by AMG and a hybrid will most likely arrive sometime in the future.
