Bugatti is known for launching authentic vehicles, but usually, we have to wait for a long time until this manufacturer releases a new car. For instance, between the EB110 and the Veyron, 10 years has passed and only some concepts debuted during that time.
However, now, Bugatti is ready to launch a new car and it will be a luxury, performance-oriented SUV. The rumors have been here since 2009 and for many years, people actually thought that this car manufacturer will come out with a sedan, but apparently that is not the case. SUVs are popular nowadays and here are some renderings of the 2022 Bugatti SUV!
Before you start getting into details, note that this article is based on speculations and the knowledge we have about a company, its previous models and some concrete details as well. Here are all the details that you should know about the new luxury SUV.
Exterior of Bugatti SUV
The new supercar will be the evolved Veyron, which defined the company in this century. However, the SUV will also incorporate some elements from the Chiron, such as the front fascia. Of course, the bits and pieces will have to be larger to fit on the massive new car Bugatti is preparing.
The headlamps will be larger and Bugatti will most likely retain the square LEDs which will be wider than the ones on the Chiron. Also, the company will have to place two intakes on each side of the horseshoe radiator, but these vents will not be aggressive.
Bugatti is making a performance-oriented car, meaning that a splitter will most like be added! Even though this is not a common part on SUV, this is not a common SUV – remember that. Generally speaking the entire front end will be similar to the Chiron, as we have already mentioned, but it will be toned down and the SUV will not be as aggressive as the supercar.
The sides will not be anything spectacular. The new vehicle will adopt a standard design for this segment and it will boast four doors, sturdy side skirts, quarter windows and a higher suspension setup. The roofline will be more sporty to put forward the performance segment of the vehicle.
Last but not least, the rear end might also look like Chiron’s. However, it will be heavily modified and the French will opt for the more traditional look of the derriere. A sloping tailgate is expected with a narrow rear window whereas the aero device will be flanked by two exhaust pipes.
Interior
Although the exterior design will be inspired by some previous Bugatti models, the company’s designers will have to start from scratch inside the cabin. And they have a chance to make something that will stun the buyers or fail miserably, which will not be the case, most likely. The hauler will be luxurious and good-looking but if Chiron’s cabin cannot be transferred what to expect?
The speculations are plentiful, but the interior is the most questionable segment of this car. However, we could assume that Bugatti will make a streamlined dashboard whereas the technology and the apps will be borrowed from the parent company Volkswagen. Broadly speaking the 2022 Bugatti SUV will resemble the Bentley Bentayga in terms of the interior.
“Sports” can be interpreted in two ways and instead of adding mild sport features, the manufacturer might go all-in with race spec units and integrated headrests. This is unlikely to happen, but until Bugatti confirms otherwise, it is on the table. The seats will almost certainly be wrapped in leather or Alcantara, whereas the combination of both should not surprise you. The seats in the back will be less radical no matter what the decision on front seats is like.
The new model is expected to be quite spacious which means that door panel pockets and cup holders are a must. Bugatti inserting cup holders sounds silly, but if they want to make a rivalry SUV, this is what they will do.
When it comes to technology, don’t have any doubt that Bugatti will be equipped with a cutting-edge entertainment system and massive screens all over the cabin. Some other features that will make the list are a premium audio system, WiFi, wireless charging as well as a small fridge to cool your champagne.
The materials will range from genuine wood, carbon, leather, Alcantara and polished metals to get the upscale feel. What about the optional features? Don’t even get us started! The choices will be endless and expect every inch of leather to be customizable. Don’t forget that wealthy and famous will be in possession of this baby!
Drivetrain
When it comes to the engine of the 2022 Bugatti Chiron, we just don’t know what to expect. Just the thought of adding Chiron’s 8.0-liter W16 quad-turbo is crazy! And there is always a possibility that it will produce over 1,000 horsepower! The new vehicle from Bugatti has a chance to be the most powerful SUV, but unfortunately, that will not happen..
The reason is that it is too difficult to take a monster W16 from a mid-engined car (this is very important) and put it under the hood of an SUV. The costs would be enormous. Moreover, the new model will be more accessible to people and therefore more down to earth. The engine we have mentioned is an engineering marvel made for the Chiron only.
What are the options?
One possibility is the 6.0-liter W12 from Audi and Bentley. It powers the Bentayga, delivering 600 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque. Knowing Bugatti, if they choose this engine they will have to add a few extra ponies. And with such engine, they would have no problem competing against the Lamborghini Urus.
Speaking of the Urus, it is equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 engine that also powers some other models in the VW Group, so it wouldn’t be that much surprising to see this mill under the hood of the 2022 Bugatti SUV. Whatever powerplant is selected the new car will aim to be the fastest SUV, a title held by the Urus with the top speed of 190 mph.
Hybrid Power
We cannot turn down the possibility that a hybrid version will be included or the hybrid version only! The model year of this car is 2022, which is a long way to go. And once again, the manufacturer will turn to VW for help.
One drivetrain is the 3.0-liter V6 combined with an electric motor, powering the Bentayga. It generates 456 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. The all-electric range is poor 31 miles, but this isn’t the primary focus of this car. The second option combines a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with an electric motor and it can be found in the Turbo SE-Hybrid variants of the Porsche Panamera and Cayenne. This combination delivers 680 hp and 626 lb-ft of torque, more than enough to meet the Bugatti standards.
2022 Bugatti SUV Price
The 2022 Bugatti SUV will not be as expensive as the Chiron, but don’t expect low prices. All the SUVs which are sold in this niche exceed $200,000 mark. The Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus start right here, whereas the Rolls-Royce Cullinan has the price tag of $325,000! The new luxury SUV will compete with Cullinan in terms of price and it could be close to $400,000!
